Rambo Heart

ruptured heart escapes

stitches itself together

just like it’s Rambo

Sometimes it takes almost a lifetime to get on a path of healing. Until we make it there, and have been traveling on it for some time, our tattered and tortured heart becomes an Inner War Soldier. It learns to use guerilla warfare, on both itself and others. It ventures out, open and trusting, becomes frightened, then, to protect itself, hides in the thickets, attacks, and then retreats. Our brains remain unaware of its actions until we begin to accept the world as our mirror. This most surprising method of waking up to what we actually do instead of what we believe we do is when we see it in someone else’s actions and, instead of judging them, think about what we are actually doing. When practicing this regularly, we begin to accept when we act in ways that we are not proud of. With acceptance comes the ability to change. It will carry us through the big and tiny.

When we find ourselves in this stage of healing, finding our reason why we are doing this will help us choose to remain on the path no matter what it takes. When we find our reason it becomes our continuous motivator. It will carry us through anything that we experience, so be strong like you know you already are…after all, you’ve come this far and your Rambo heart is still kickin’...
