When is it that we feel the most drained? Can we pay attention to where we were and what we were doing? Were we attempting to participate in activities that no longer suit us? As we grow, the things that are of interest to us change. What we used to love and be fascinated by can suddenly seem uninteresting and draining. It’s difficult to accept such monumental shifts, yet True Growth requires this of us. Though it is shocking and seems as though our very personalities can be changing as well, it’s important to understand that this is part of the healing process. When we have experienced ongoing emotional, mental and spiritual trauma, getting to our core self requires great courage. It requires us to shed those parts of ourselves that have been near and dear to us throughout the years. It will make the important things stand out, and will shed the unimportant things, those things that we held onto as outside references that told us who we were, what we needed to do and even what we needed to think. When we come to this place, we are born anew. Though our new skin can feel soft and vulnerable, it is just that vulnerability, which makes us open to finally become who we choose to be…no outside influences involved.
