You Can’t Thrive on Breadcrumbs: The Truth About Taking Your Life Back

As the old Moody Blues song Question goes:

"I'm looking for someone to change my life. I'm looking for a miracle in my life."

There's always something we want to change in our lives.

The thing is, we're the ones that do that.

Not anyone else.

And the sooner we own that, the faster things shift.

Are you living like it’s someone else’s move?

Like the miracle has to come from them—not you?

If you're honest...

Have you been putting your future in someone else's hands?

When you meet someone new...

And you’re already hoping they’ll change your life...

What happens?

Inevitably, you're often disappointed.

This mindset isn’t surface-level.

It’s stitched into how we’ve been taught to wait—

For love.

For validation.

For someone else to say, “You’re ready now.”

It’s not just about someone who's trying to find a new love in their life—

It’s about anything where you’ve told yourself someone else would show up and fix it.

Were you looking to get a promotion at work?

And were you waiting for your boss to notice you?

Were you avoiding going to your boss and talking to them about it instead?

Because you knew the answer—

Or you didn't want to take responsibility for what they might say:

More work.

More time put in.

Just... more.

Promotions don't come with ease and comfort.

They come not just from work—

But from ownership and responsibility.

And that's the same with anything—

Any part of your life that you're putting in the hands of someone else,

You'll be waiting a long, long time.

You've been taught to live on breadcrumbs.

To be satisfied with a simple gesture every now and again.

You've been taught to expect intermittent pleasures—

And you called it love.

This is extended to every part of your life.

Not just love.

You know you can't thrive on breadcrumbs.

Taking responsibility for all the things that you actually truly want—

Instead of waiting for that miracle person—

Requires next-level dedication and persistence.

If you don’t do these things—

If you don’t take radical responsibility to change your own life—

Then you can't expect to get where you want to go.

That's just the fact.

Because those breadcrumbs—those tiny, inconsistent hits of “almost” they gave you—

Wrote a story in your mind and your heart.

A story that let life drift past while you waited.

But ground yourself, please.

Root down into Mother Earth.

Ground yourself into your body.

Come back home.

You can't change your life when you're constantly floating away into breadcrumbed fantasy.

Your miracle person is waiting for you...

It’s you.
